Perfect weight. A good alternative to heavier hammers for more delicate tasks requiring hammering force. Perfect for very small copper nails with tiny heads. Also works for hammering small rebar stakes into the ground. The shape and smoothness of the handle make it a pleasure to hold and swing.This hammer has a convex side and a flat side, ideal for setting up your bench chisels. The weight and balance are comfortable. Using the convex side to round the wood at the end of your chisels avoids tearing the fibers and increases the life of your chisels. Also, unlike a general multi-use hammer that has knicks and dings in it, I chose to set this one aside to ensure a clear head for years to come.This build quality of this hammer is what you expect from a good hammer.While the weight balance was a little awkward with the thinner handle for me comparing to my round rubber mallet, it is good choice for all around hammer.Very appropriate weight for "finger-tapping" the chisels, but note it can be kind of loud if the butt of the chisel is wooden. I would pick rubber mallet if you mind that, to me, this is more suitable for Japanese chisel with metal butt.Overall, this is a good addition to your toolset if you are into chiseling, especially Japanese chisel, or just want a decent hammer.I purchased the hammer to finish driving small nails in cabinets and trim where I was concerned that a larger hammer might also mar the finish. This hammer has both flat and convex faces, and was perfect for getting small nails perfectly flush with the surface, and did not dimple the surrounding wood. I was then able to countersink the heads with a small punch. I have many different hammers, each with their own uses, but lacked a small hammer for for these specific situations. This hammer was a good value for just the right use case.Awesome tool, it works well and I’m strongly recommended to every people.Appears to be well made. I bought this to use as a plane adjusting hammer and was surprised to see it came with a small Japanese smoothing plane. Don't know if this is typical or a mistake since I didn't see that in the ad. Now I have a plane to practice the tuning on that all most Japanese planes need,instead of the larger one that I got from the same seller. Looking forward to using it.I carry a van full of tools to do in-home furniture repair and space is limited. I needed a hammer somewhere between a full size and an upholstery hammer. This is a perfect choice, especially since the head has one side for driving (flat) and the other side for finishing (rounded, convex). The hammer is well balanced and handle is sized for delicate work on antiques.I have two smaller chisels from KAKURI used for adjusting planes, and striking chisels. I needed a larger hammer for working in much thicker wood with larger chisels. Balance , feel and flat face is what I like. I also use fiat faced to temporarily compress a tenon to fit into its mortise.Like most Japanese tools if you are unfamiliar ,it requires work . The head will have to be seated properly and the metal wedge driven in . Only takes five minutes . It's a great little hammer . Flat on one side of the head and convex or belled on the other .
